The Texas Longhorn Breeders of New Mexico are sponsoring a 2-day World Qualifying Youth and Open Show in Capitan, New Mexico.  The open shows will have haltered and free (non-haltered) divisions.

 

The Lincoln County Longhorn Show will be held on May 10th and 11th, 2008. Cattle can start arriving on Friday, May 9th, and will show on the 10th, and /or the 11th.  There is not a requirement to enter both shows if an exhibitor does not wish to. 

Please pay special attention to the Entry Fees and Deadlines.

SHOW INFORMATION

Show:                        This will be a 2-day show.  The Texas Longhorn Breeders of New Mexico (TLBNM) will host                          both days.  The show will start each day at 9 a.m.

Entry Fees and:     ******Open Show:  $35.00 per entry per show if entries are POSTMARKED by

Deadline                  April 1, 2008 (By April 1, 2008 total entry for both shows is $70.00 per head)

                                       no exceptions will be made to the postmark deadline!!!!!!!!(This is to encourage early entry)
*Open Show:  $40.00 per entry per show if your entries are postmarked between April 2 and April 18, 2008 (total entry for both shows is $80.00 per head). 
*Youth Show:  $20.00 per entry per show (total entry for both shows is $40.00 per head).
*Late entries are an additional $5.00 per head to the $40.00 entry fees (total late entry for both shows is $85.00 per head). 
**Local hay and bedding will be available to purchase at the show.  Please indicate amount needed on your entry form summary.

 To appear in the show program, entries must be in Alto, NM by April 18, 2007.  A fee of $5.00 will be added to all entries that are received after April 18th. All entries not received by April 18th, will appear as write-ins in the program. All entry forms must be completed and all fees paid prior to the animal entering the show ring.  

******Premiums are at the discretion of the board of directors.  At this years Lincoln County Longhorn Show the board  has decided to forego premiums and give Awards. 

 Kristi Wilson will be handling both the open and the youth entries.  Please make your checks out to the TLBNM.

Arrival:                   Cattle will be accepted on Friday, May 9th, 2008.

Departure:              Cattle will be released after the show on May 11th.

Rates:  $ 47.99 plus tax for one person, $57.99 plus tax for two people and $10.00 for each additional person.   They only have three (3) rooms with one queen bed and fifteen (15) rooms with 2 double beds left.  They will hold these rooms until April 28th, so please make your reservations as early as possible as this is the only motel in Capitan.  Kids 14 and under stay free.  If you would like additional information about this motel, its online site is www.smokeybearmotel.com.  When reserving your room, please ask for the Texas Longhorn Rate.  .

 Additional Lodging Information

 If you call and the motel is booked or if you would like a list of additional places to stay in Lincoln County, please give me a call or email and I can get you a list of all the available accommodations in the area.  There are several motels, cabins, and bed and breakfasts in other parts of the county.

 Dinner:                     Dinner for Saturday evening is still in the planning stages.  We will let exhibitors know after the final preparations are made.  

         Silent Auction:   We will be having a silent auction during the show on Saturday through the Youth Show on Sunday.  We will appreciate any and all donations of auction items.  If enough large items are received, we will do a live auction Saturday night.

         MINI SHOW CLINIC:  We have had several inquiries about the proper way to show cattle from some new breeders and some interested youth exhibitors.  We would like to host a mini show clinic for those wanting to learn more on showmanship techniques.  We would like to host this clinic Friday night and more information will be available as we get closer to the show.  If you would like to volunteer to help teach show techniques, please contact us. 

NEW MEXICO STATE LIVESTOCK REQUIREMENTS: 

From within the state but outside of Area #4, District #20 (Capitan) a brand inspection is all that is needed.    

From outside the state of New Mexico, a health certificate.  The health certificate must show a negative test result for Brucellosis on cattle 18 months or older and a negative test result for TB on all cattle 12 months or older.  This requirement is for all cattle that are entering the state.  Cattle testing must be done within 30 days of movement and health certificates are valid for 30 days.  Also, on your health certificate, you will need to have your veterinarian call for an entry permit.  Any questions regarding entry requirements, please call the NM Livestock Board at 505-841-6161.

ADVERTISING:
The Lincoln County Longhorn Show will be printing up a program and advertising is available to all breeders, exhibitors, and commercial businesses regardless if you participate in the show.  We appreciate all of our supporters and advertisers.
